NURSES from the Hunter's Breast Care Centre were tickled pink with the generosity of the region's corporate fraternity at yesterday's pink ribbon fund-raiser breakfast, organisers said.

More than $12,000 was raised, with the money to be used for training nurses at the centre.

The fund-raiser, organised by Lawler Partners and supported by The Herald and Wests Leagues Club, who donated their function room for the event, is the second of its kind, with plans already being made for next year, Lawler Partners' Jacqui Osborn said.

"We raised $7500 last year so this year it was a great show of support," she said.

It wasn't just the region's businesses that got behind the cause.

Many people whose lives had been touched by breast cancer attended, she said.

"Grandmothers, mothers and daughters, all breast cancer sufferers were also there."

NBN's Mike Rabbitt presided over the event and guest speaker was former state tourism minister Sandra Nori.
