THE decision by Kyle Sandilands to live between Sydney and Los Angeles has done little to dim his audience appeal for the breakfast show with Jackie O on 2Day FM.
They easily won the FM slot from Nova in the latest Nielsen Media survey, adding 90,000 listeners, and were second only to the dominant AM voice, Alan Jones.Jones once again underpinned 2GB's No. 1 position overall, with a 16.5 per cent audience share, although there was a drift of 35,000 listeners compared with results of the previous survey. He has twice as many breakfast listeners as 2UE's Mike Carlton and Sandy Aloisi, who slipped further down the ratings ladder - from fifth to seventh place - rating 5.9 per cent.Steve Price, who is struggling in John Laws's former shift, managed only a 5.1 per cent audience share in mornings compared with Jones and Ray Hadley's 15.3 per cent share at 2GB. But John Stanley managed to recover some lost ground for 2UE, bringing an extra 36,000 listeners to the drive time slot.At 702 ABC the new morning host Deborah Cameron continued to defy her critics with a respectable 8 per cent audience share. The drive time presenter Richard Glover fell two ratings points and relinquished the top spot to the 2Day comedians Hamish and Andy. The 2Day breakfast show has a 12.3 per cent audience share and 180,000 more listeners than Nova, its nearest FM rival. Despite the addition of the Home and Away star Kate Ritchie this year, Merrick and Rosso dropped nearly one point to rate 7.5 per cent.
